I have spent more than 15 years in jobs where the conversation matters.
Sometimes that meant selling a complicated marketing service to a skeptical business owner. Sometimes it meant helping a family understand a private-pay medical decision that cost tens of thousands of dollars. Sometimes it meant keeping a client who was ready to walk because no one had listened closely enough to the real problem.
My work is part sales, part diagnosis, part translation, and part stubborn follow-through.
I am at my best when the offer is not obvious, the situation is not tidy, and the person on the other side needs someone who can be direct without becoming mechanical.
I also write. Mostly about difficult places, difficult periods, human behavior, and the absurd machinery people build around all three.
